Pongal Festival: 

Pongal is a four-day Tamil harvest festival celebrated in mid-January to thank the Sun God (Surya) for a bountiful harvest

Key aspects of Pongal: 

Harvest Gratitude:  

A thank-you to the Sun God, nature, and farm animals for prosperity. 

Name Meaning:  

Pongal means "to boil over," referring to the symbolic overflowing of milk in the traditional dish. 

Four days: 

Bogi Pongal: Day 1- Cleaning homes, burn old belongings 

Thai Pongal: Day 2- The main day of worshipping the Sun God and cooking the sweet Pongal dish 

Mattu Pongal: Day 3- Honoring cattle (cows and bulls) with baths, decorations, and special food. 

Kaanum Pongal: Day 4- Family gatherings, communal meals, and traditional games. 

Cultural Elements: 

Includes folk dances, bull-taming (Jallikattu) in some areas, and sharing festive foods. 

Pongal Celebrations in Zenith: 

In Zenith we have celebrated Pongal 2026.  

Pongal celebrations in apartments can be joyful as meaningful as in villages, just adapted to shared space and urban living. 

We had Kolam competions, traditional games for both adults and kids, Cultural programs (Dance, song etc….)
